Wheel spinning opens a new world on your spinning journey. You’ll get acquainted with the Schacht LadyBug and the sidekick and start creating your own custom yarn.

We’ll cover what fibers work best for beginners and how to prepare them for spinning. You’ll learn several spinning and plying techniques –  as well as when and why to use them, tips for spinning consistent yarn and finishing methods to make sure your yarn is as long-lasting as it is unique

Maximum of 4 participants. (It is possible for someone who already owns a spinning wheel to join the class.)

cost: $ 220 for 4h class + 2h practice without instructor

equipment supplied :
-wheel ladybug and the sidekick.
-different types of wool for the class
-information booklet on fibers and spinning processes 

- (Bobbin is not provided but can be purchased at the end of the session for the customer to take home.) 

SESSION PLAN: may vary according to boutiques and instructors 
Theory
- the spinning wheel - parts and operation of the different parts of the spinning wheel, basic mechanism, difference between single- and double-drive wheels, ratios (e.g. 1:1 or 1:6)
-learning about fibers: properties of natural animal and plant fibers
- different fiber processes (combing, carding)
- s" or "z" spinning

- first try on the spinning wheel: practice pedaling 
- spinning pencil roving and combed fiber 
- spinning different animal fibers and hand-dyed colors 
- emptying bobbins 
- clean room 

2 hours of practice - spinning on a wheel without an instructor. 

Possibility of spinning fibers for another 1h per 2 hours class - included in the session price, may vary according to boutique hours.
