COLORS

Because of its artisanal nature, each skein of hand-dyed yarn may not be completely identical to each other, even if they come from the same dye lot.

As our yarns are hand dyed by small quantity in the same basin, if your order is for more than 5 to 6 units of the same color, we will have to dye a new batch. Consequently, yarns will come from different dye lots. However, we will take a great care to ensure that all skeins are as similar as possible.

To ensure a nice color transition when starting a new skein, especially with semi-solid, speckled and variegated colors, we suggest you alternate the rows of the ending skein with the new one.

The effect of self-striping colorways will be maximized in small circumference knitwear such as socks, mittens, hats and scarves.

About Speckled and Variegated hand-dyed yarns: because of the random nature of these colorways, identical socks and/or homogeneous color in other projects such as shawls or cardigans will not be possible even when using 2 skeins of the same dye lot. They will make coordinating socks, not an identical pair. It is best to switch rows between the skeins when carrying out your shawls, cardigans & other projects.

Most of the time, we take pictures of the yarn in daylight to show the colors closest to reality.

However, because of the difference between the pixels of monitors and their adjustments, it is possible that you observe a slight difference between the actual color and the picture displayed.

WASHING CARE

Superwash (also identified as SW) processing means that the wool has been chemically treated to prevent felting so you can wash your garments in the washing machine. However, to preserve your garment and color as long as possible, we recommend washing in cold water and drying flat.

Although the yarn is pre-washed, it is possible to observe a slight bleeding of dye during the first washes (bleeding refer to the excess dye that goes away). In some cases, this bleeding flowing into the washing water may affect the adjacent colors (especially on white). For this reason, we recommend washing your garment for the first time by hand in cold water (and always in cold water for subsequent washings).

As all yarns are subject to bleeding on first washes and especially when your project is worked with contrasting colors, we also recommend to wash the darker color skein prior to knitting your project. This will remove the excess color.

At the very least, you may knit a little swatch with all your colors, let it soak in cool/warm water with a mild detergent and see if there is any bleeding. It is better to be safe than sorry.

If you are using self-striping hand dyed yarns including a mix of light and dark colors, it is important to know that darker colors may bleed on lighter sections on first washes. This is a normal effect. It will not disappear but will fade out after few washes.
