This hand-dyed artisanal yarn is no ordinary knitting yarn: the designer behind the knitting patterns, Louise Robert Design, meticulously created this beautiful collection.

It's by studying the color palettes that represent her life and career over the years that designer Louise Robert was able to imagine the variety available in these hand-dyed artisanal yarns.

COBALT The first cobalt blue was discovered in 1802 by a chemist who heated cobalt salts mixed with alumina. His aim was to produce a blue comparable to the natural ultramarine, an extremely expensive color obtained from lapis lazuli. Van Gogh was a fervent admirer of the cobalt blue, as can be seen in his painting from 1888, Starry Night. He expressed this interest in a letter a few years before painting this work: "Cobalt is a divine color, there is nothing so beautiful to create space around objects." - Louise
