This hand-dyed artisanal yarn is no ordinary knitting yarn: the designer behind the knitting patterns Louise Robert Design meticulously created this beautiful collection.

It's by studying the color pallets that represent her life and career over the years that designer Louise Robert was able to imagine all of the variety available in these hand-dyed artisanal yarns.

COBALT The first cobalt blue was discovered by heating cobalt salts mixed with alumina by a chemist in 1802. His aim was to produce a blue comparable to the natural ultramarine, an extremely expensive color obtained from lapis lazuli. Van Gogh was a fervent admirer of the cobalt blue, as can be seen in his painting from 1888, Starry Night. He expressed this interest in a correspondence a few years before painting this work: "Cobalt is a divine color, there is nothing so beautiful to create space around objects" - Louise

Seacell is a silky fiber made from seaweed and eucalyptus fibers. Seacell is hypoallergenic and very gentle. Algae for the marine cells are harvested in sparsely populated fjords of Iceland, in places where there is no waste or pollution from ships. Combined with silk, it creates a luxurious and shiny thread.

Exquisite

This yarn is so soft and luxurious I am almost afraid to use it. The color is not as vibrant as I expected, but then, it is hand-dyed. I give it 5 stars for its luxury but only 3 stars for practicality. Might make a short waistcoat.
