Céleste - KNITTING KIT

These socks by Karine Le Foulgoc are knitted from leg to toe with a butterfly motif knitted in roosimine.

Have you ever heard of Roosimine? It's an Estonian inlay technique that creates the illusion of embroidery through the use of floats in contrasting yarn on the right side of your knitting.

The name Roosimine actually means "decorating with roses" and it stems from a style of short stitch embroidery that was typically done on the Estonian island of Muhu. Interestingly, this technique can also be called Roositud. The only difference is that Roosimine is the verb or action of doing the technique, while Roositud refers to the finished product. It's a fascinating technique that can really elevate your knitting projects!

IN ADDITION TO THIS KNITTING KIT YOU WILL NEED THE FOLLOWING MATERIALS TO KNIT THESE SOCKS 

NEEDLES AND ACCESSORIES 

• Circular needle 2.25mm and 2.5mm (mosaic stitch); choose the required cable length according to the technique. 
• Tapestry needle
• Stitch markers

SIZES XS, S, [M, L, XL] 

GAUGE 

34 sts x 40 rows = 10 cm - 4" in stockinette stitch, worked in round, after blocking 

Notes 

A few reminders about working with grids. Each square of the grid represents a stitch, and each line represents a round (horizontally). You need to read the grid starting from the bottom, from right to left, for each round on the right side of the work.
