Here is the Bare Trees Shawl by Mavivi tejiendo!
The Bare Trees DK Shawl is the lush, cozy evolution of a classic. Reimagined in a substantial DK weight in collaboration with Biscotte Yarns, this version features an additional lace row that adds depth and movement to the signature "branches" of the design.
This shawl is worked from the top down starting with a garter tab, growing into a shallow triangle that balances the meditative rhythm of stockinette with a sophisticated lace border. It is a faster knit with a luxurious, warm drape—perfect for showcasing the artistry of hand-dyed fibers.
We offer this model as a kit only. If you want to buy the pattern alone, you'll find it on Mavivi tejiendo's Ravelry HERE.
THIS KNITTING KIT INCLUDES
- The Bare Trees Shawl knitting pattern (sent as a digital pdf format) - The pattern is included when you purchase a kit.
- BISCOTTE YARNS - DK PURE [90% Merino wool, 10% Silk; 238 m per 115 g] - 2 SKEINS - shown in Strawberry Thief
IN ADDITION TO THIS KIT, YOU WILL NEED THE FOLLOWING MATERIALS
-
Circular needles 4 mm (US 6) for shawl body - or size required to obtain the gauge.
- Circular needles 4.5 mm (US 7) - cable length of 100 cm (40”) for edging - or size required to obtain the gauge.
- Stitch markers (optional)
- Tapestry needle
SIZE - ONE SIZE
- Light blocking: 215 cm (85”) x 66 cm (26”).
- Aggressive blocking: 204 cm (80,31”) x 72 cm (28,34”).
You can size the shawl up or down by working more or fewer repetitions of rows 1 to 8. Make sure your stitch count is a multiple of 11+6 before starting the lace border.
GAUGE
18 stitches = 10 cm (4'') in stocking stitch after blocking.
Gauge is not crucial for this project but will affect the amount of yarn used and the final size of the shawl.
NOTE
The shawl starts at the center and is knitted down to the bottom edge. There is a three-stitch garter border on each side, one increase yarn over on each row and 1 central stitch separating each half. Each RS row has two or four increases. Each WS row has two increases.
Tip: You may find it convenient to use markers after and before the 3 stitches wide garter edging. The body of the shawl is worked in stockinette 7 rows and one row in garter stitch. The shallow triangle shape is achieved by increasing one stitch at each end of the shawl every row and one stitch on both sides of the center spine (marked with a stich marker) every four rows.
