Option: KNITTING PATTERN ONLY

The Forest Rain Pullover by Donna Estein have elements of color and texture work together to create the effect of falling rain in this pullover knit from sleeve to sleeve.

By working sideways, the variegated yarn creates stripes that appear horizontal on the sleeves and vertical on the body. An accent color creates dripping ridges at the hem of the body which add a slight flare for more movement.

You have the option to purchase the pattern only or the knitting kit, which contains both the yarn and the pattern needed to knit this project!

NOTE

Construction notes:

Sweater is worked from cuff to cuff, beginning with the left sleeve which is worked in the round from the bottom up. Stitches are cast on to each end of the sleeve to form the front and back which are worked flat at the same time across the body. Shoulder shaping and neck shaping are done during this time. Stitches are BO at the edge of the body then the right sleeve is worked in the round top down to the cuff.

Gauge notes:

For the sleeves, stitch gauge determines width and row gauge determines length. For the body, stitch gauge determines lengths and row gauge determines widths. Row gauge is very important as it determines body, neck and shoulder widths. If you aren’t able to match row and stitch gauge, work to the correct row gauge instead.

The gauge swatch lying flat will change when worn. To account for drape of sweater, two gauge statements are listed since the fabric hangs with rows running down on sleeves and with stitches running down on body.

To test your gauge, knit a gauge swatch, wet block it, when dry unpin and shake out. Pin a ball equal to about half a hank of yarn to the bottom of swatch, measure stitches and rows while holding up swatch to determine sleeve gauge. Turn swatch on its side, pin ball to bottom and measure while holding to determine body gauge.
