Here is a scarf pattern that will help you learn to knit. The sample explanations contain a little more detail than a "standard" knitting pattern, since they are intended for beginning knitters and all knitters. With each section of the headscarf, you will learn a new technique to put into practice. Since the knitting stitches vary, each section will produce a different width, which is normal. This "problem" will be resolved when you block the scarf. That said, the sections will all be different from each other, and that's what makes the charm of this design.

Each section of the scarf is explained in writing, and to help you become familiar with reading knitting charts, each section is also presented at the end of the pattern in chart form. You can choose to follow either the written instructions or the charts. That said, I strongly recommend learning to read the knitting charts, as they help you visualize the rows and, with a little practice, "understand" the meaning of the pattern.
