Discover the beautiful sock pattern designed by Louise Robert for the July 2021 mystery sock club. This pattern was originally knitted with a Bis-Sock yarn from Exclusive Color.
This pattern is worked from the top down with a heel flap. The stitch pattern used in this design creates an effect similar to the herring-bone stitch that makes the stripes of the Self Striped yarn ripple for an nice effect that stands out from the crowd!
In addition to the pattern, you will need the following materials to knit the Big Bold Foliage socks:
- Biscotte Yarns - BIS-SOCK [85% merino sw, 15% nylon, 400m per 100g skein]. 1 skein (100g) shown in a special self-striping yarn hand-dyed for the members of Biscotte Mystery Sock Club, July 2021 edition.
- Circular needle or double-pointed needles of 2.25 mm; US #1 (or size needed to obtain gauge).
- Tapestry needle, stitch markers (if needed).
Gauge : 34 stitches = 10 cm in stockinette stitch
Size : adult one size
Circumference (unstretched) : 16 cm; 6 ¼ in.
Foot length : adjustable.
NOTE : Like the chevron, this is a stitch pattern that compresses the knitting and has little stretch. As a result, the number of stitches to cast-on will seem excessive, but don't worry: your sock won't be too big! Also, be sure to check your gauge for the reasons stated above.
